Below are some questions that I am commonly asked when speaking to a potential student.
Q. What is your typical process for working with a new student?
A: I assess the student's skill level and take into account what their goals are so that I can design a curriculum that is tailored specifically for the individual.
Q. What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
A: I have a BFA in music from Purchase College (SUNY) along with 25 years of teaching and performing experience.
Q. Do you have a standard pricing system for your lessons?
A: My fee is $60 per 45 minutes
Q: What advice would you give a student looking to hire a teacher in your area of expertise?
A: Make sure you work with a teacher who will give you a well-rounded musical education as a compliment to teaching you how to play the guitar. Understanding the fundamental elements of music will be the best path to ensure that you become a great guitar player.
Q: What questions should students think through before talking to teachers about their needs?
A: What is my motivation to play/take lessons? What are my playing/learning goals? How much practice time am I willing to put in?
